This weekend we took the perfect impromptu road trip.

We had to go to Albuquerque for an appointment, so we decided to make a regular trip a little more fun by taking the scenic route.

We went the back way from Santa Fe, past Lamy, through Galisteo, and then a slow drive through beautiful Madrid before getting to Albuquerque through the East Mountains.

It was the perfect way to change up our regular route and gave us a chance to see some parts of the state we had never seen.

It was a beautiful trip. I could tell you all about it, but you what they say about pictures…

The vines on this house were bewitching
Galisteo, NM is a wonderful hidden gem
Madrid, NM is one of my favorite places to visit and explore
You have to stop and take a picture at this Photo Park
Definitely stop and have a bite or a drink at the Mine Shaft Tavern

Here is a map of our route in case you are interested in recreating it, and I highly recommend that you do!
