Here I am again, sharing good news. This time it’s about how Adam and Christy Parent of 4 Birds Photography are helping others one photo at a time. As you’ll see below, they stumbled on The Front Steps Project and have now spent the last several weeks taking photos of folks, at no charge and at a distance of fifteen feet, on their front porches.

By donating to Santa Fe’s Food Depot, you too can have your photo taken on your front steps by Christy. You get a professional photo and the Food Depot gets to feed more deserving New Mexicans. I love this idea and this evening, Toby and I had our Front Steps session. I’ll share the final edited versions later, but here we are with Christy, relaxing on our own Front Steps

4 Birds Photography is the culmination of almost 20 years of photography experience. Christy began with documenting the everyday moments of life with her husband Adam and her 4 children (our “4 Birds,” as she often calls them) and branched out into product photography, followed by travel, food, portrait, and architecture photography.

Based in Santa Fe where she shoots every day, she’s all about the unparalleled light and beauty of our region compels her to capture it at every turn. Full Disclosure – Christy did my headshots and does all my real estate photography and she’s amazing in the way so quickly finds the perfect essence of the homes I’m listing. She really loves to work with clients and create a portfolio that tells a visual story of life in their home, business, and community. And she loves to capture one’s authentic beauty in portrait form. She made me look amazing for my business cards!

Amidst the COVID-19 crisis Christy and Adam, her husband and business partner, were looking for a way to give back to the community they love and stumbled upon The Front Steps Project.  Her mantra?

“Not all of us can do great things, but we can all do small things with great love.“ -Mother Theresa

The Front Steps Project was created by photographer Cara Soulia in Massachusetts. It aims to bring communities together virtually in a time of isolation & raise funds for those most in need by offering 5 minute “front step” portraits in exchange for a donation to local charities.

Christy offers a five-minute “Front Steps Portrait” to Santa Fe residents & businesses in exchange for a donation to The Food Depot ,which is doing an amazing work providing food for New Mexicans in need.  If you’d like to participate, fill out her form here and she’ll schedule a five minute “Front Step Portrait”  – your family, your roommates, your animal companions, your employees – anyone in your home or business is welcome to step outside! After your 5 minute session, she’ll email you the digital file of your portrait. You can then donate through this GoFundMe account: https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-front-steps-project-santa-fe where 100% of the funds go directly to The Food Depot.

Sarah Ruiz and her children participated. Sarah is a single mom, nursing student, and ER medical worker. Thanks for what you’re doing Sarah!

Participating in this project is an opportunity to help some of those who most need it right now. To respectfully comply with our Governor’s #StayHome order, Christy photographs from fifteen feet away. You then make the donation in good faith at any time.

I love that Christy wants to focus on the faces of our beautiful City Different during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, in the workplace, at school, or at the gym.

Like I said previously, the form for participating is here or you can leave a comment and I’ll provide it to you. I’m dying to see your Front Step Project photos! And I’ll post my finished portrait soon.

  1. You should do this for you and Bob. Then you’ll have professional COVID 19 photos to commemorate the time when you worked so hard on your business!

You are welcome to repost on your blog as well if you’d like!
