I Love New Mexico

About all things New Mexican

It’s really true – a picture is worth a thousand words.  I took these pictures yesterday so that you’d know what Ute Lake looks like in February, at least this week in February.

We’ve been blessed with some amazing weather, and I’m always blessed with the lake out my back door.  It’s 127 steps from my back step to the water’s edge.  Lucky me.

For those of you who don’t know Ute Lake http://bit.ly/g1bh3R, it’s in northeastern New Mexico, Quay County to be exact, four miles west of Logan.  It’s an Interstate Streams lake, which means that it maintains a relatively steady level – no water is released for irrigation or other purposes.  Ute has about 24 or 25 miles of navigable water.

And, as you can see, it’s beautiful.
