I Love New Mexico

About all things New Mexican

March - 7 - 2013

I’m reposting this to give you yet another look at one of my New Mexico Favorites.  The 3 Bears Lodge really launched my blogging career by providing me with the perfect subject to convey my love of New Mexico.  And then recently they donated a stay in the lodge to a benefit held in my honor.  I can’t let that kindness go unnoticed.  The bottom line is:  if you’re looking for a fun, clean place to stay in Red River where the hosts will treat you like family, this is it.  Here’s the prior post in its entirety: I’m a  [ Read More ]

My great pals (and cousins) TJ and Robin Smith went for a long drive last weekend, all over northern New Mexico.  Las Vegas, Villanueva, Pecos, Mora, Tres Ritos, Taos, Angel Fire, Red River, Cimarron. . .     They took a pile of pictures.    When I suggested that they write a guest blog, they suggested that I write the content instead and use their photos.  Well, the only content I feel like writing is “Wish I had been there.”  For those of you who haven’t spent October in New Mexico, all I can say is, “Get here.”  The colors  [ Read More ]

There are some things I can’t get enough of:  good friends, good conversation, relaxing around a fire. . .and last week when we spent my birthday weekend at the 3 Bears Lodge in Red River (again), I had all three.  All weekend. When we first went to the 3 Bears a year ago, we were pleasantly surprised at how warm and friendly our hosts Chris and Debbie Yates were.  Before that first weekend was over, we felt like old friends.  There was lots of standing around the firepit, sharing various libations and great stories and meeting new people.  In our cabin,  [ Read More ]

So, if you don’t enjoy great scenery, great food, really great company, and big fun, you might as well go on to the next post. This one is the “I loved my weekend at Red River” post, and most specifically the “I love the 3 Bears Lodge” post. I could go on for pages about the fun Dave and I had over the past weekend in Red River (see previous post for amazing food at the St. James. . .), but what I really want to do is give the old “hats off” to our new pals Chris and  [ Read More ]

I love the restaurant at the St. James Hotel in Cimarron. I love that I can get in my car in Logan with my boyfriend and be in Red River in less than three hours. And I love that this past Friday, on the way to spend half-price weekend in Red River (half price on lodging, ski lift tickets, rentals, etc. – it’s a tradition in Red River, and a mighty fine one at that!), Dave suggested that we stop at the St. James in Cimarron and have my belated birthday dinner. For those of you that haven’t been to Cimarron,  [ Read More ]
