I Love New Mexico

About all things New Mexican

This post is just a variation on my continual theme – finding beauty right where you are.

These photos were all taken with two blocks of my house, except for the ones right down at the lake, which were taken a mile from my house.

It was a freezing cold morning yesterday, only 2 degrees when I left the house.

But the entire neighborhood sparkled, as you can clearly see.

Even the garden gate sparkled.

It was so cold that the fog was freezing, making it look like it was snowing.  Is that possible?

The lake, which is right behind my neighbor’s display of crosses, had slipped out of sight.

Even the mesquite bushes were breathtaking.

And the yuccas looked like a Christmas card.

And then I drove down to the water, where the fog on the lake and the snow on a distant sandbar made for a completely unexpected image.

The longer I was out with my camera, the more turquoise the sky. . .

Every branch was sharply outlined against the New Mexico sky.

It was just one more perfect day where I live.  I love New Mexico.

  3. Hi;
    Found you through Twitter just now. Saw your link in my feed and so glad that I did. I’m in love with New Mexico (ride horses down there as often as I can.) These pics are terrific! I especially like the contrast of the fog on the lake. Happy WW.
