The rules of blogging are very clear.  Never, ever, ever apologize for not posting.  But I have to say to those of you who are faithful followers of I Love New Mexico – Sorry.  I’ve had some niggling health issues, and I’m working very hard on them, but that doesn’t keep me from being a devoted follower of everything New Mexican.  I’m back, mostly, and I plan to get on track with posting about the things we love best here in the Land of Enchantment. I decided to create a new feature for 2013 – my list of New  [ Read More ]

I’m not much of a shopper, unless wandering through thrift stores or rifling through racks at consignment shops counts as serious shopping.  I personally think I own far too much “stuff” already, and that I have everything I need. You know, reduce, reuse, recycle – that sort of thing. But I do have a weakness for unique jewelry, and I’ve located a new store in the Santa Fe Railyard that feeds that addiction quite nicely.  The fact that the jewelry there is amazingly affordable is a plus.  The bigger bonus is that the owners are folks that I’ve met before  [ Read More ]

As you may know, I now have a sweet little gig writing blog posts for Two Casitas Santa Fe Vacation Rentals.  I have all of you folks to thank – you’ve shown such interest in this blog that you convinced Wendy Kapp of Two Casitas to hire me.  It’s quite a treat to get to write about a place and properties that I love.  One of the tasks on my list for Wendy is to find different ways to enjoy a weekend in Santa Fe (dirty job, but somebody’s gotta do it) – from the “Opera Season and Canyon Road” weekend to the “Santa Fe  [ Read More ]

When I started writing this blog in December 2009, I had a couple of very simple goals.  I wanted to write about New Mexico, land that I love (that phrase always makes me feel like I should break into song), and I wanted to record some of my thoughts for my kids.  It seemed simpler than writing a memoir that might or might not get published.  Mostly I just wanted to feed my need to write something every day. What I didn’t foresee was how this blog would lead to acquaintances and friendships with so many people from so many  [ Read More ]

We have a winner!  I threw everyone’s names in a hat and drew out Karyn H (see my reply to your comment Karyn, for instructions on how to reach me with your address).  She gets to go to the Pick Up Sticks Retail Website and choose a photo charm and trinket, which I’ll send to her on a 20 inch stainless steel chain.  Congrats! And for those of you who didn’t win, check out the retail website and choose something special for yourself.  You deserve it.

Living Room of our McKenzie Street casita in Santa Fe Dave and I ran away to Santa Fe for the weekend and had the good fortune to locate Two Casitas vacation rentals on VRBO.   I’m a big fan of VRBO – I’ve stayed in some great homes and casitas, which always seems just a bit easier and more comfortable than a hotel room. This weekend was no exception – I sent in the standard inquiry on VRBO and then waited for responses.  Wendy Kapp from Two Casitas immediately e-mailed me back and after several phone calls, she gave me a  [ Read More ]

Those you who know me well know exactly how I feel about Pick Up Sticks Jewelry.  If you follow this blog, you’ve already read the posts about my friends, Glena Henry and Sabrina Colson, who very successfully created a fun, clever and unique jewelry line that’s grown beyond all our wildest imaginings (read part 2 of the posts here). Pick Up Sticks is a  New Mexico success story – Glena and Sabrina are Quay County girls who now operate their business in Clovis (studio and warehouse) and Albuquerque (design).  I’m so proud of them and so excited about their success AND  [ Read More ]
