The New Mexico Tourism Department was looking for great New Mexico storiesa while back-your’s, mine, our’s. Whatevergreat New Mexico story you hadto tell. They wantedto know all about what New Mexico means to you. And if the tale wascompelling and clever and very “New Mexico True,” you could win the grand prize of $5,000

I didn’t win the prize, but the contest compelled me to start asking this blog’s followers if they had New Mexico stories to share.

Tucumcari Municipal Pool, where I spent a few Sundays as a child. Circa 1965

I wastotally in. From my first red bikini swim in Cimarron Canyon at 3 years old to my childhood camping trips at Tres Ritos to my high school water skiing days on Ute Lake to my dinner last night at the Cowgirl, I think I have a few stories to tell. And I wouldn’t have mindedwinning a little cash to finance the New Mexico Dive Bar Tour I have planned for this fall (by the way, I’d appreciate a suggested list of dive bars to visit on that trip.

What about you? If you’ve got a great New Mexico True story to tell, send then to me here or at bunnyterry1@gmail.com.I’ll publish them here as a guest blog. Tell us what you love best about New Mexico and include a few photos.

Can’t wait to hear from you!
